The type of postpartum tired that sits on the walls...

In my postnatal Doula Roles I see what i explain here, soooo often and this is why i love to do what i do.

Within about three seconds I could feel it.

The kind of tired that sits in the walls.

She opened the door holding the baby, hair half tied up, dishes in the sink, washing on the chair. That slightly wild look in her eyes that says no one has really seen me today.

She kept apologising.

“Sorry about the mess.”

“Sorry I look like this.”

“Sorry the baby might cry.”

I always find it strange that mothers apologise for surviving.

So the first thing I did was put the food down and say,

“Sit. I’ve got you.”

She ate a proper meal while it was still hot.

The baby got settled.

Her shoulders started dropping.

Then we moved into bodywork — slow, grounding, the kind that lets the nervous system finally realise it doesn’t have to stay on high alert.

By the end of the session she looked like a different woman.

Her face was softer.

Her breath slower.

Her body back inside itself again.

Nothing magical happened.

A mother was simply fed, held, and cared for.

And it’s amazing what happens to women when that finally occurs.

Because the truth is… most mothers are pouring from an empty cup while the world just keeps asking for more.

You dont have to do it alone.

I offer various types of support to accomodate all schedules and budgets.
